A coffee tour near Bogotá (without flying to the Coffee Axis)
Most coffee tours "near" Bogotá either mean a flight to the Coffee Axis or a big hacienda where the tour runs $50,000 to $60,000 COP per person and kids pay the same as adults. El Nido Andino is a family coffee farm between La Mesa and Cachipay, a couple of hours from the city, and our Coffee Tour is $15,000 COP per adult with kids joining free.
What the Coffee Tour is
A walk through our coffee fields with us, the family that grows them. You see the plants, learn to spot a cherry at its peak, and follow the whole process: growing, hand-picking, pulping, sun-drying and roasting. By the end you understand why the cup in your hand tastes the way it does. This is the farm we live and work on (old Panche territory, above 1,400 metres), not a staged stop on a tour circuit.

Price and how it works
$15,000 COP per adult, kids free. You add it to your day pass (from $60,000 COP per person with pool, jacuzzi, snack and trails included), any day the day pass is open. The walk itself is arranged on the day of your visit.
For comparison: the coffee tours at the big haciendas around this region usually run $50,000 to $60,000 COP per person, and at almost all of them kids pay full price too. We would rather the whole family came.
Tour or tasting? Two different things
The tour is the walk: you go through the fields and follow the process. The coffee tasting ($25,000 COP) is a different experience, a guided session where you try the coffee brewed several ways. Do one, the other, or both in the same day.
The rest of the day is yours
The tour is one part of the day, not the whole day. Your day pass runs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and comes with the pool, the jacuzzi, the lake, the hammocks and the farm's trails. If you like birds, bring binoculars: we have more than 40 documented species here. And if you want lunch, the farm restaurant is optional.
Getting there
We are in the countryside outside La Mesa (Cundinamarca), between the town of La Mesa and Cachipay, a couple of hours from Bogotá. You turn in at the Colegio Ernesto Aparicio and the last 3 kilometres are a rural road in good shape. There is parking at the farm. No car? Message us and we will help line up a trusted local driver (the ride itself is a separate service).
If you stay the night
Sleeping here turns the plan into something else: mist over the coffee at dawn, and a cup of the farm's own coffee a few steps from your bed. Have a look at the rooms and at camping.
